Fine
quality porcelain is used to produce finely textured and intricate wall
panels. The technique used is called slabbing. First it is wedged to
remove all the air and blend it together. It is then rolled out to the
desired thickness, textured and drawn on. The panels are coloured with
oxides and metallic lustres, during a course of three firings.
The
main themes used are trees, leaves and flowers combined with the
playful qualities of Naive Art. I am very interested in taditional
patterns, developing these into borders and edges.
My studio has been based in central
Dudley for several years. There I make the panels and ceramic jewellery.
